Important: Planned Treatment vs. Emergency Coverage
Standard travel insurance (World Nomads, Allianz Travel, etc.) covers dental emergencies only — not planned procedures like implants, veneers, or All-on-4. If you're traveling to Rio specifically for dental treatment, you need a dental tourism specialist policy (Medical Travel Shield, Clinic Hunter) or an international health plan with dental add-on (Cigna, Bupa, Allianz Care, AXA).

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my US health insurance cover dental treatment in Brazil?
US domestic health insurance (including most dental plans) does not cover treatment abroad. However, some international health plans (Cigna Global, Aetna International) do provide coverage. Check your policy's international coverage section or contact your insurer directly.
Can I get insurance after I've already booked my trip?
Yes, but the sooner the better. Medical Travel Shield and similar dental tourism policies can be purchased after booking. However, you cannot purchase coverage after a dental problem has already started — the condition must arise after the policy is in effect.
Will insurance cover All-on-4 implants or full-mouth reconstruction?
Standard travel insurance will not. Dental tourism specialist policies (Medical Travel Shield) and international health plans with dental add-ons (Cigna, Bupa) may cover these procedures. Coverage depends on whether the procedure is classified as 'medically necessary' or 'elective/cosmetic'.
What documentation does Hub Dental provide for insurance claims?
We provide detailed treatment plans, itemized invoices, clinical notes, X-rays, and written reports from your treating dentist. Our team is experienced in preparing documentation for international insurance claims and can assist with any additional paperwork required.
What if my insurer doesn't appear on your list?
Our list covers the most common international insurers, but many others may also provide coverage. Contact us with your insurer's name and policy details — our team will help verify whether your coverage applies to treatment at Hub Dental.
